But, if they are present and they do enter our lives.... well, I am sure I met one tonight.
I met a guy named Marquis at our pick up game tonight. He talked. He preached, rhymed, predicted, and storytold. He was a wrestler, fireman, CMT scholar, and pursuing the profession of a preacher. He played. He could not shoot, pass, or dribble. He took the liberty of getting a drink of water during several dead balls.... but he played. After playing, he talked again. Something happened when it was time to leave and what do you know the car he was riding in did not start so he had no ride. I battled in my heart then volunteered to take him and his boy home. He got in the front seat as numerous supplies fell out of his backpack and he farted as he got in my jeep. We all talked about life and God on the way to his house and it got to a point with me where whatever he said I disregarded as noise. He asked for my cell phone and made several calls to tell people that he was out of minutes and to call him back on his house phone in 20 mins. I began to reach my limit. We finally pulled up to his house, and his boy thanked me and went inside. But, Marquis asked me to make a text for him on my phone. I got his message sent and was ready to leave quickly. Then he looked at me and asked 'Can I make one more phone call?' I said, 'No, your good. See ya man.' He looked at me and said "oh...ok. Ok." I had cracked and reached my limit, I gave to a point and was done giving. I felt something tell me to give more,s o I handed him my phone and he made his call quickly. Before he got out of the jeep, he said "Thanks man, anything you need, I got you. You are my boy no matter what." I was very humbled. I thought maybe this was God pushing me to show me my own heart. We can always grow, we can always make an effort. And to some people, it makes all the difference in the world. Marquis the angel. Who knows.
